Daniel Álvarez Conde
I am a 22-year-old Computer Science Engineering graduate from the University of Oviedo with a focus on Computer Science, deeply engaged in High-Performance Computing, low-level electronics, and, lately, social relationships and interactions.
Currently, I am the head of the software department at 4Space Uniovi, with 9 members, where we are constructing a rover for the European Rover Challenge 2025. My professional journey includes research in Geneva, Switzerland, with CERN Openlab through their Openlab Summer Student Program, as well as hands-on experience in OS deployment and device maintenance at the University of Oviedo.
Additionally, I created assistive glasses for visually impaired people as part of a research initiative in an interdisciplinary project with Rey Juan Carlos University, Complutense University of Madrid, and the University of Oviedo. We tested the prototype on 30 children in Mexico, where we achieved promising results for our research:
And officiated as a football referee in over 160 matches:
When I was in the early years of my degree, I tried to delve into the details of what interested me the most through personal projects. Some of these projects include developing a 6502 microprocessor-based breadboard computer and a VGA video card on breadboards, showcasing my interest in microprocessors and hardware design. Beyond engineering, I enjoy exploring natural landscapes in my leisure time, adding a sense of adventure to my life.
I am actively seeking to meet people from all over the globe, valuing the exchange of innovative ideas and the rich tapestry of cultures. This was one of the main reasons I participated in the NASA Space Apps Challenge with my teammates Daniel Piñera, Coral, Samuel, Juani, and Vlad. Additionally, I am looking for new opportunities in research and the business world.
