Samuel G. Guerrero Camarero

¡Hola! I’m Samuel, one of the members of the AsturExplorers team. Let me share a little about myself.

I’m a 27-year-old with both Spanish and Mexican roots, and I’ve always had a passion for building, fixing, and—mostly—breaking things. As a child, my favorite toys were "Mecano" sets, which allowed me to create cool structures and motorized devices. I’ve always excelled in math and had a particular love for science.

Driven by curiosity, I pursued a degree in Physics at the Universidad de Granada. It was during my first year there that I launched my first "Hi world!" program. It was a first year course about basic C++, and I was instantly hooked. Since then, I’ve taught myself various programming languages and technologies, including Fortran, Python, and Arduino, through a mix of online courses and hands-on practice.

Currently, I’m working as a Software Developer at Indra in Gijón, Asturias, a beautiful city in northern Spain. In this role, I dive into the software code used by air traffic managers, and, just like when I was a kid, I still get to build, fix, and break things. This job has been a tremendous learning experience and has brought me closer to another one of my passions—aviation (I have also worked as a Cabin Crew).

In this period of time, a few months ago, is when Vladimir and I decided to spent a weekend trying to resolve one of the challenges that NASA proposed. And here we are! On another exciting journey, meeting new people and looking forward to where ever this takes us.

My goal is to always keep learning. I love experimenting with ESP32s and practicing guitar. I am always searching for new opportunities that challenge me, and I’d love to contribute to large-scale projects that push boundaries and allow me to collaborate with like-minded individuals.
